[edit] Grassroots Volunteer How-to

  • Notice: This page is not affiliated with the official Ron Paul PEC. It is written by and for grassroots supporters.

[edit] Step 1: Sign up and Contribute.

Ron Paul has officially declared his bid for the Republican nomination for president.

  • If you intend on voting for him, you should visit the Official Ron Paul Campaign website at http://www.ronpaul2008.com and make a contribution to the campaign. Campaigns take tremendous amounts of capital, so please vote with your wallet as soon as possible to show him concrete support on a national level. Please consider doing this, it is the single most important step you can take right now.
  • Express interest in joining the campaign by clicking the Join Us link on the campaign website, and filling out the form.
  • Spread the Word - Tell at least ten (10) friends about Ron Paul and why you are planning on voting for him.

[edit] Step 2: Contributing On-line Time

There are various things you can do to increase people's awareness of Ron Paul from your computer.

  • Create a MySpace account. This is a social networking site where people add Dr. Paul to their 'friends' list. The candidates with the most friends get more press, and given his current lead above all other Republican candidates, it's a good idea to create an account and add him as a friend. Dr. Paul's MySpace page is here.
  • Participate in on-line polls. Please visit them and place *1* vote. Anything more is disrespectful and damages the image of Ron Paul and his supporters.
  • Join the RonPaulForPresident Yahoo Group. This group hast posts on on-line activities, such as petitions, maps, etc.
  • Add yourself to the Ron Paul Buddymap site: http://www.buddymapping.com/maps/ronpaul
  • Go to http://www.youtube.com/groups_videos?name=ronpaul4president, watch videos, and rate them. Comments are good too.
  • Join Digg and digg (vote) for webpages and articles you find worth promoting. A lot of internet sites have a "digg it" banner next to their articles to allow you to vote for interesting storys. This is no call to digg anything special, just get used to the digg system and promote stories you like, in particular, Ron Paul articles that you enjoy.
  • Email your friends. A simple email of your favorite Ron Paul YouTube video with a simple statement like, "What do you think?" seems to be very effective. Some people just need to hear that a friend supports a candidate, and they will then research that candidate on their own.

[edit] Step 3: Contributing Real World Time

Currently, most grassroots events are coordinated through various email discussion groups. See Discussion Groups for details on all the groups that I am aware of.

  • Join MeetUp.
  • Join Facebook, and your local network.
  • Join a the RonPaulGrassRootsAction Yahoo Group, and make a post announcing your interest in getting involved and any special skills you may have. Do not post items that do not directly pertain to action items. Make sure you check the Calendar for upcoming events.
  • Join a state group to express your interest in participating in local state events. Here is a map displaying moderators, and a listing of state groups is here.
